Lavender Fields Ingredients

ABOUT LAVENDER FIELDS INGREDIENTS

Lavender. Lavender derives its name from the Latin root “lavare,” which literally means “to wash.” When applied to the skin, lavender oil based products might show positive results in helping with eczema, acne, sunburns, and much more.

Calendula. Calendula is also known as marigold. It is a centuries-old antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, wound-healing, eczema, acne and psoriasis soothing ally. The petals of these daisy-like flowers lend skin-soothing properties to many natural cosmetics and sunscreens.

Chamomile. Chamomile is an ancient medicinal herb typically associated with tea that you may drink. The dried flowers of chamomile contain terpenoids and flavonoids contributing to its medicinal properties. Chamomile preparations are commonly used for inflammation, muscle spasms, insomnia, wounds, rheumatic pain, and more.

Tea Tree Oil. Tea tree oil can be directly applied to the skin for infections such as acne, fungal infections of the nail, lice, athlete's foot, and ringworm. It is also used topically as a local antiseptic for cuts and abrasions, for burns, insect bites and stings and more. The compounds in tea tree oil may kill bacteria and fungus and reduce allergic skin reactions. For all of these reasons you will find Tea Tree oil in each of our formulations.

Fractionated Coconut Oil. Coconut oil is naturally composed of both long- and medium-chain fatty acids, which are also called “medium-chain triglycerides” (ie MCT oils). In fractionated coconut oil, the long-chain fatty acids are removed by steam distillation following a process known as “hydrolysis.” For Mind Flight, fractionated coconut oil is used as a carrier oil for our herbal infusion process and adding of essential oils. Key to its use as a carrier oil is that fractioned coconut oil is odorless and colorless, and it is also a good hydrator. Plus, fractionated coconut oil has a longer shelf life than regular coconut oil.

Beeswax. Beeswax is generally available as yellow or white. Yellow beeswax comes directly from the honeycomb, while white comes from yellow beeswax. For Mind Flight products we use white cosmetic grade beeswax pellets to melt down into our base for each product. Of note, beeswax has mild anti-swelling (anti-inflammatory) effects and reason it is a good ingredient in salves meant for treating scrapes, cuts, minor wounds, and burns, among other abrasions.

Shea Butter. Shea butter is a nut butter from the shea tree found in East and West tropical Africa. Shea butter works like an emollient (“Moisturizer”). So shea butter might help soften or smooth dry skin. Shea butter also contains substances that can reduce skin swelling which can help treat conditions associated with skin swelling such as eczema. In various articles you will find that people also use shea butter to help with acne, arthritis, burns, dandruff, inflamed skin, dry skin, insect bites, itch, muscle soreness, scaly and itchy skin (psoriasis), rash, scars, sinus infection, skin breakages, stretch marks, wound healing, and wrinkled skin.
